Rapist sentenced

SHILLONG: The Fast Track Court convicted one rapist, Dharmendra Singha, to 7 years of Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) and fine of Rs 10,000 for raping a minor girl in 2007. The RI will be extended by 1 month on failure to pay the fine.

The complaint was lodged by Impulse NGO Network and the enquiry was taken up by investigation officer SM Singh who is presently in charge of Jhalupara Beat House.
