Bangalore-based Lucky Star Lamin provides tips on management for life, time and work

TO SURVIVE in the world we have to manage our situation; to meet our material needs and to stay sane, we struggle to exert some control. Notice the language used here: ‘we have to manage’. This suggests that all humans are managers in some way.

Management is the process of planning, organizing, leading and controlling our life, time and works with effort to achieve happiness, cherish goal and balance of life.

Management plays a huge role in the Life of a human being. It is the overall code of conduct that a person follows throughout his life. It shows in every aspect of personality of the person and provides abstract picture of behavior of a person under various situations. Management is definitely the need of the hour. The human life has become so complex with so many aspects attributed to it. That includes personal life, professional life and familiar aspects and so on. So the term management is now not just limited to textbooks. It has now become mandatory for every person to gain a good hands-on managing his/her life out of so many complexities present in today’s scenario.

The three important aspects of management are as under.

Life or self-management

SELF-MANAGEMENT skills for everyday life encompass those skills that we use to take care of families, obligations and ourselves. They develop as we become more aware of our responsibilities and mature enough to meet these goals. Some golden rules of self-management are:

~ Live with purpose

~ Learn to say ‘no’

~ Be responsible and accountable

~ Be more productive and make the right choice

~ Be nice, courteous, polite and respectful

~ Be yourself and be self-disciplined

~ Keep healthy and take care of yourself

~ Build happiness in your family

~ Self-control your needs

Time management

TIME MANAGEMENT involves carefully analyzing how you currently spend every minute of your day and then determining ways you can make better use of those minutes. This often includes eliminating many or all of the time wasters that each of us must contend with on a daily basis.

~ Time management refers to managing time effectively so that the right time is allocated to the right activity.

~ Effective time management allows individuals to assign specific time slots to activities as per their importance.

~ Drop activities that sap your time or energy.

~ Build downtime into your schedule.

Management for work

MANAGING YOUR personal and professional life is a lifelong balancing act due to situations that arise in the course of expected and unexpected normal life events. We all have ways of managing various aspects of our work. Here are some ideas:

~ Be organized in what you do

~ Avoid procrastination

~ Deal work stress in healthy way

~ Love and enjoy your work

~ Share good relations with your colleague

~ Separate work from your personal life

~ Balance personal and professional life

One of the biggest reasons why people suffer from stress and depression and they never achieve their goals and never seem to have time in their day to accomplish what they need or want to do, is because of lack of management. In your life, you can physically manage and organize your workspace (your office, desk, file cabinets, paperwork, electronic files, etc.), your home to provide for a more relaxed, productive environment and improving yourself, you can also organize how you spend your time. Management goes hand in hand with time organizing, goal setting, and proper planning.
