Woman drug peddler nabbed

SHILLONG: A female drug peddler identified as Lalthazuali, resident of Umkaliar, was arrested on Monday for illegal possession of 2 grams of heroin. Cash worth Rs. 27,100 was also seized from her. She was arrested by police from Nongmynsong Outpost and the Anti Narcotics Task Force at around 8.30 pm.

Seminar

Raid Laban College organized a one-day State-level seminar on the theme ‘women empowerment’ recently. Deputy Speaker Sanbor Shullai was the chief guest. Luminaries of the State presented papers during the seminar.

Hindi Divas

Along with the rest of the country, Hindi Divas was observed in Shillong on September 14 with an aim to promote the national language in the State. A programme was held at Ruprekha Parishad High School to mark the occasion.

Free camp

A free Hepatitis B and C screening and Hepatitis B vaccination camp was held on Monday at Bethany Hospital, Shillong. This initiative to provide free immunization has been envisaged by Dr. N Arora, Director, Delhi Liver Foundation.

Concert

The Pine Mount School Concert scheduled to be held on September 20 at 4 pm has now been rescheduled to September 19 at 11 am.
