SHILLONG: The Assembly was adjourned sine die on Wednesday after the completion of 8-day Budget session. On the last day of the session, besides presenting the Budget and passing the vote- on account for the first quarter of the year, a number of Government bills including Meghalaya Police (Amendment)Bill 2014, Meghalaya Lokayukta Bill,2014 and Meghalaya Appropriation(No.1)Bill,2014, which was based on supplementary demands for grants, were passed.

Rewinding National Anthem

An incomplete National Anthem played by the recorder in Assembly at the end of the session on Wednesday, has embarrassed the legislators who were standing. Speaker AT Mondal, however, intervened and asked the staff who manned the tape to repeat the Anthem from the beginning.

Irritant during Budget speech

Chief Minister read the Budget speech for few minutes in darkness in the House due to the power cuts imposed by MeECL. The emergency generator could restore power later.
