SHILLONG: The ANVC-B has reiterated that it will not step back from its demand for a designated camp in Khasi Hills.
“No camp in Khasi Hills will mean no solution. ANVC-B is firm in its demand to have a camp in Khasi Hills. Opposing groups are making the situation vulnerable which is not conducive for peace. We should not be held responsible for the same,” ANVC-B leader Doang Shira said in a statement.
The militant outfit also challenged the groups which are opposing setting up of the outfit’s camps in Garo Hills.
“If they are sincerely objecting to our demands, we would like to see them come to our areas and make their demands. We want to see if they have a majority or we have the majority,” the ANVC-B leader said.
“ANVC-B means peace and wants to remind all the Khasi brethren that we demand our rights. We lived here as an organisation for more than a decade, but never caused any harm to other communities. Therefore, making the camps official will not harm the brotherhood of our societies but denial will harm the goodwill of the people we represent,” the rebel leader claimed.
