State leaders mourn Munde’s death

SHILLONG: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma, Tura MP and former Lok Sabha Speaker PA Sangma, Meghalaya Assembly Speaker AT Mondal and State BJP leaders have condoled the sudden demise of Union Rural Development Minister Gopinath Munde.

The Chief Minister, while conveying condolences to the wife of late Munde said, “No doubt this sad incident has been very disturbing for you and for many other people who knew and cared for him”. The Chief Minister added that he was deeply grieved at the tragic death of the Munde.

In a similar condolence message addressed to the wife of late Munde, Purno Sangma said,” I am deeply shocked and saddened on the tragic and untimely demise of your husband and in his passing away ,the country has lost a tall leader and a very good human being “.

The Assembly speaker, while expressing shock over the leader’s death remembered him as one of the prominent leaders in Maharashtra and said he had donned various roles in Maharashtra as Deputy Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition.

The State Unit of the BJP has also condoled the demise of Munde.

In a condolence message, the State BJP leaders said Munde’s demise was not only loss for the party only also for the entire nation.

The party in a condolence meeting held at the state party head quarters on Tuesday prayed for the departed soul and also for the family to get strength during this time of grief. Two minute silence was observed in respect of the departed soul and the condolence message was also sent to the bereaved family.
