SHILLONG: NPP legislator James K Sangma has brought a nepotism charge against PWD Minister Sniawbhalang Dh?r saying majority of the contract works of his department are being allocated to his brother.
While referring to the list of contract work allotted to the PWD contractors during the period from 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 which was tabled in the last Session of the Assembly, Sangma on Wednesday told the Assembly that he was surprised that the name which mostly figured in the list was the brother of the PWD Minister.
He said that in Sohra PWD Division, the division had released the bills of only a single contractor – the brother of the PWD Minister.
“I feel that the Minister should not have been allowed to misuse his office in this way,” he said.
It may be mentioned that the brother of PWD Minister is Umroi Congress legislator Ngaitlang Dhar who owns the firm — Dhar Brothers Construction Company Private Limited.
