TURA: Nokmas of Garo Hills have decided to oppose the proposed Meghalaya Grass Root Institutions Governance Bill, 2015.
The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting held here on Thursday.
It was also decided that if the state government makes any attempt in future to introduce such a bill which will reduce the powers of  the traditional heads, all 1500 Nokmas along with their chras and Maharis would oppose it tooth and nail.
