Concern over poor implementation of Soil and Water schemes in Ri Bhoi

NONGPOH: Concerned over the poor implementation of the schemes under Soil and Water Conservation Department in Ri Bhoi, members of the Ri Bhoi Youth Federation recently met the Divisional Officer of Soil & Water Conservation Department, Nongpoh, HS Kharpran to apprise him of the issues faced by the farming community in the district.
During the meeting the RBYF also expressed concern over the poor attendance of the Range Officer and other staff at Patharkhmah Division which has resulted in poor implementation of schemes meant for local farmers of Jirang.
The RBYF also highlighted the issue of inadequate allocation of fund for Ri Bhoi under the Soil and Water Conservation Department by the State Government for implementation of various schemes such as Watershed Development Project in Shifting Cultivation Areas (WDPSCA), Accelerated Irrigation Benefits Programme (AIBP), NABARD Loan- Soil & Water Conservation Scheme under RIDF, etc.
