SHILLONG: At a time when several schools and colleges in the city are not willing to settle for students securing lesser marks, Seven Set School is one of the institutes, which is coming forward and accepting students who could not do very well in the examinations.
As the admissions are taking place, the mad rush of the parents to get their wards enrolled in schools of repute is not a new phenomenon. The parents utilise various mediums to get their wards admitted in highly regarded schools, right from requesting politicians and top notch bureaucrats to make phone calls or sign a referral letter to the extent of money play
The recently declared HSSLC examinations did brought laurels for many and one of them was Kavita Joshi, who is the first topper from the Seven Set School that has done consistently well in the last few years but the top position had remained elusive.
The achievement of the school in this regard seems to be more phenomenal considering the fact that even with second rung students, both the faculty and the school authorities worked consistently for their turnaround and this has reflected in the results.
“Which school you go to does not really matter when it comes to doing well in studies, what matters is the hard work you put in and the support and encouragement you receive from the school,” said Joshi.
She said that her parents were always there for her, however, the school was her real support that saw her potential, motivated her and always pushed her to work hard
Another happy parent whose six children studied in Seven Set, P Wanniang said, “My six children studied in the school and now they are engineers and doctors. I don’t think parents making a bee line to get their wards enrolled or running after only the top notch schools will secure the future of their wards.”
Principal of Seven Set School, K B Warjri said, “School is not meant only for those with 80% or 90%. We are there to do well to the society and help the underprivileged.”
She further added that the first thing the school aims at is the all round development, values of life which is very important.
