Women to call shots in Shillong

SHILLONG: Women voters will decide the fate of the candidates for the Shillong Lok Sabha seat while their male counterparts will do it for the Tura seat.
There are more women voters in Shillong Lok Sabha seat while the scenario is different for Tura Lok Sabha seat where males outnumber the former.
For Shillong Lok Sabha seat, the constituencies where women voters are more are all those in Jaintia hills, which include Nartiang, Jowai, Raliang, Mowkaiaw, Sutnga-Saipung, Khliehriat and Amlarem.
In Ri-Bhoi, women voters outnumber the males only in Nongpoh and Umroi out of the five constituencies.
As for East Khasi Hills, women voters will decide the fate of the candidates. The district comprises constituencies such as Mawryngkneng, Pynthorumkhrah, Mawlai, East Shillong, North Shillong, West Shillong, South Shillong, Mylliem, Nongthymmai, Nongkrem, Sohiong, Mawphlang, Mawsynram, Pynursla, Mawkynrew, Shella and Sohra.
In West Khasi Hills the number of female voters is more in Mairang, Mawthadraishan and Nongstoin out of the five constituencies.
In South West Khasi Hills District, the number of female voters is higher in Mawkyrwat than in Ranikor.
The situation is different for Tura Lok Sabha seat wherein the males outnumber the females. It is only in Tikrikilla, Rajabala, Selsella, South Tura and Rangsakona, which are constituencies in West Garo Hills district, where women voters are more.
Again in South Garo Hills, the constituencies of Ampati, Mahendraganj show more female voters.
