MPUF meets DC over toll gate
SHILLONG: The Meghalaya People’s United Front, East Jaintia Hills District (MPUF-EJHD) met the Deputy Commissioner of East Jaintia Hills, FM Dopth regarding the two toll gates of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) in Jaintia Hills.They were informed that the public can make payment at either of the toll gate and on entering the other toll gate, they should produce the entry receipt and not to make a second payment. In a press statement, the organisation urged the public to approach the DC if the toll gates do not accept the entry receipt.

‘Adhere to waste generator’
Shillong: The Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District along with Nongpoh Town Committee (NTC) has directed the general public which are under the Nongpoh Town Area to adhere to the obligation of waste generator as specified under Rule 4 of SWM Rule, 2016 failing which stern action including penalty ranging from Rs 5000 onwards under “Polluters Pay Principle” will be imposed. They will be impeded as co responder in NGT cases. The full text of SWM Rule, 2016 can be downloaded from the website of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
