Ri Bhoi ranks 1st in health & nutrition

NONGPOH: Meghalaya Minister in-charge of Health & Family Welfare, A.L Hek, on Tuesday, attended the Convergence Meeting of Health Department at Circuit House’s Conference Hall, Nongpoh in which Ri Bhoi was felicitated for achieving 1st rank in Health & Nutrition among all Aspirational Districts in the country.
The meeting was organised by the State and District Health Department in the presence of Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner, RM Kurbah and members of the Rural Resource Centre, Guwahati (Ministry of Health & Family Welfare).
Other who were present in the meeting included A Kishor Sharma, State Consultant, UNICEF, Ashok Roy, Director, RRC-NE, P Thomas, Sr. Consultant, RRC-NE, NHSRC, S Rajkumari, Sr. Consultant, RRC-NE, B K Das, Sr. Consultant, RRC-NE Guwahati, Rakesh Singh, Regional RI Consultant, UNICEF Guwahati, N Roy, SMO, WHO & NPSP, Shillong, LM Pdah, Director MCH & FW, M.Marbaniang, Jt. Director MCH & FW, R Alya, Jt. Director MCH & FW, L Challam, Jt. Director MCH & FW, DP Kharsati, Addl. Deputy Commissioner and M Mawrie, DM&HO. The meeting was also attended by officials from departments like PHE and MePDCL.
Speaking on the occasion, AL Hek appreciated and congratulated the DC of Ri Bhoi District for leading the Health and ICDS team to improve health & nutritional indicator in the district for achieving the feat.
He also lauded the office of the District Medical & Health Officer, Ri Bhoi and other District Officers of line Department who are the members of the District Aspirational Committee for their joint efforts in improving the health & nutrition indicator.
Hek also enlightened that Aspirational District is the vision of Indian Prime Minister, which goes along with the vision of our Chief Minister to ensure Universal Health Care Service coverage to all beneficiaries including poor socio-economic population, vulnerable & deprived population of Ri Bhoi Aspirational District.
Hek also felicitated the district by giving the certificate for being ranked 1st in Health & Nutrition among other Aspirational Districts in the country to the Ri Bhoi DC.
