Suspension threat
JOWAI: The All Jaintia Hills Cement & Clinker Transporters’ Association (AJCCTA) has issued a strong warning to all truck drivers loaded with cattle for illegally disposing dead cattle along the National Highway NH-6.
All across the National Highway has been emitting foul smell due to illegal disposal of dead cattle, informed Thubru, the JCCTA President.
“We will take stern action against the driver and the truck’s owner if found disposing any dead cattle on the road side along the NH-6,’’ Thubru added.
He further said that his Transporters’ Association has the power to suspend those trucks who would be found guilty in disposing any dead cattle.
“Once the association suspends them, they will lose their transportation businesses as no trader will give them any kind of loads,” he said.
Thubru also warned those drivers who put stones and large rocks on the middle of the road.
“In many occasions, whenever any truck breaks down, drivers use stones as signals, and after repairing their trucks, they leave those stones and rocks in the middle of the road. This is very dangerous for other vehicles plying on the roads,” informed Thubru.
Meanwhile, the East Jaintia Hills Drivers’ Association (EJHDA) has also issued a strong warning to all truck drivers transporting cattle via East Jaintia Hills.
EJHDA Vice President Kyntang Phawa informed that the road (NH-6) from Sunapur to Kuliang in East Jaintia has been emitting foul smell and has affected commuters plying through the highway.
The association has requested the District Administration to deal with the matters and initiate strong action against drivers involved in such illegal activities.
