Decade-old pending education building inaugurated in Ri Bhoi

Nongpoh: The office building of the Joint Director of School Education and Literacy and District School Education Officer of Ri Bhoi District, which has been pending for more than a decade, has been completed and the same was inaugurated by Minister of Education Lahkmen Rymbui at Nongpoh on Monday.
The inaugural function was also attended by MLA, Nongpoh, Meralborn Syiem; Principal Secretary Education DP Wahlang; Additional Deputy Commissioner DP Kharsati; among others.
Wahlang, in a keynote address, said that the building is a long-pending construction sanctioned at the total amount of Rs 2.6 crore. He also urged the officials and staff to take a good care of it and hoped that the building would cater to the needs of the education department and the general as a whole.
Rymbui, on the other hand, said that many office buildings of education department are unable to complete within the stipulated time due to lack of funding, yet he was pleasured to see the new office building in the district to cater for the needs of the officials and staff, and the district as a whole.
He urged the staff, officials of education department to dedicate themselves with good services to the people, to watchdog the performance of the schools and to report the same to the government for action.
