SHILLONG: The Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) has asked all the political parties to forget their differences and join hands together to fight the coronavirus menace.
“This is a war-like situation and we should be prepared for any kind of eventuality,” said Sainkupar Nongtraw, general secretary-cum-publicity secretary of HNLC.
The HNLC has also raised concern over lack of high-end protective gears and less number of hospitals.
According to the HNLC, the government should procure testing kits and tests should be done from house to house and village to village with the help of the Dorbars and other traditional bodies.
The HNLC also said there should be an immediate expansion of the public distribution system (PDS) in the rural and urban areas of all districts and utmost priority should be given to the drivers who transport food grains.
“The government should universalise the provision of subsidised food grains under the PDS till the crisis recedes,” the outfit added.
