IIM to hold e-symposium on logistics
SHILLONG: Aiming to build on action research and implementation of models of sustainable development by engaging with key stakeholders in the logistics sector, the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Centre for Policy Research & Analysis, IIM Shillong, will organise an e-symposium on ‘Logistics Management in the Emergent North East India Strategic and Developmental Imperatives’. Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways, and Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, will be the chief guest, the institute said in a statement issued here on Friday.

Natl training on earthquakes
SHILLONG: A three-day online national training programme on ‘Earthquake Risk Mitigation’, organised by NEHU along with the National Institute of Disaster management (NIDM), concluded on Friday. More than 1,300 national and international participants attended the programme. All the participants including Maj. Gen. Manoj Kumar Bindal, Executive Director, NIDM, deliberated on the seismicity, nature and extent of the threats, built environment and safety, micro-zonation, forecasting and early warning relating to earthquakes.

COVID-19 relief via DBT
NONGPOH: The Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi has informed that ex-gratia payment (first instalment) or COVID-19 relief of Rs 500 per beneficiary under Pradhan Mantri Kalyan Yojana for all beneficiaries under IGNOAPS, IGNWPS and IGNDPS has been disbursed through DBT method to their bank accounts.

Ri Bhoi DC releases rice quota
NONGPOH: The Deputy Commissioner (Supply), Ri Bhoi, has informed that rice under NFSA & NON-NFSA for July and rice and chana (whole) under Atma Nirbhar Bharat (Migrants & Non-PDS) for the month of May and June, 2020, have been released to the fair price shops in the district. Quota under Atma Nirbhar Bharat, free-of-cost, is rice at 5 kg per head per month and chana (whole) 1 kg per household for the month of May and June as per list provided by block development offices. AAY rice at 35 kg per card at Rs 3 per kg. PHH rice at 5 kg per head, at the rate Rs 3 per kg and non-NFSA rice 7.215 kg per card at the rate Rs 10.82 per kg. Even households without ration card are eligible to receive their entitlement as per the beneficiary list.
