Nurburgring: Force India driver Adrian Sutil recorded his best qualifying performance of the season by capturing eighth place on the grid while his teammate Paul di Resta will start at the 12th spot in German Grand Prix here on Sunday.

Sutil maintained his strong form for Force India clocking 1m 32.010s, to move ahead of Vitaly Petrov’s Renault on 1m 32.187s and Michael Schumacher’s Mercedes who completed the top 10 with 1m 32.482s.

Sutil, whose best position on grid till date was 10th at the Valencia race last month, earned himself a chance to pocket valuable points for the team in front of home crowd.

He started the Silverstone race at 11th position earlier this month. Di Resta qualified for the 12th position with a timing of 1m 32.560s in Q2.

Lotus’s Karun Chandhok finished his first qualifying session of the year at 21st.

Sutil said he was satisfied with his overall show today and hoped to put up a spirited race tomorrow amidst his home crowd here.

“Another strong qualifying performance for us and it’s great to be starting my home race from P8. My Q3 lap was good, although a couple of tenths slow slower than my Q2 lap, but it wouldn’t have changed my overall position,” Sutil said.

“My laps in Q2 and Q3 were pretty much perfect and I feel I got the maximum from the car. The balance has been good all weekend; I feel confident in the car and I really like this circuit,” he added. (PTI)
