Guwahati: The fugitive ‘commander in chief’ of the outlawed United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) Paresh Barua on Wednesday refuted that the outfit had taken help from Pakistan intelligence agencies and fundamentalist in that country during its fight against ‘colonial’ Indian government.
In a statement e-mailed to the media here the ULFA c-in-c who is opposed to the current peace process involving Government of India and the faction of the outfit led by the ‘chairman’ Arabinda Rajkhowa , denied taking help of Pakistani intelligence agencies or fundamentalists in that country as reported in a section of media quoting the ULFA chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa.
“We have noticed media reports quoting ULFA chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa who is out of jail on bail and is now sitting at home, accusing ULFA taking help of Pakistan government, intelligence agencies and fundamentalists elements in that country. This is not true and we dare all concerned including Indian intelligence agencies to prove this allegation against us,” the ULFA commander in chief said.
He further said there was nothing new about such a baseless campaign against ULFA orchestrated by Indian intelligence agencies, but the only difference this time was it based on quotes provided by the ULFA chairman.
“Such vilification campaigns are not capable of deviating the ULFA from its goal and principles,” the ULFA commander said. The faction of the ULFA led by Paresh Barua has already rejected the peace process involving Rajkhowa faction and Government of India besides dismissing the charter of demands submitted by Rajkhowa led faction to Government of India on August 5 last.
