EJH police recover 45 gms heroin, arrest 8

SHILLONG/Jowai: A joint team of ANTF East Jaintia Hills, Khliehriat Police Station and Ladrymbai Outpost recovered approximately 45 grams of heroin and arrested eight persons in a series of raids conducted over the past three days to detect the supply of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances in the district.
East Jaintia Hills SP Vivekananda Singh said that in the first raid on November 11, the team recovered 4.23 gms of heroin from a car (ML-10A-4268) at Moopala and arrested four persons identified as Kyrshan Syrti, Trusty Latam, Ferdinand Pale and Chanmi Patwet.
Again on November 12, the team recovered 1.48 gms of heroin from the possession of one Sanjit Singha travelling in a tourist taxi (ML-04A-4819) at Byndihati. On the same evening, the team recovered 34.29 gms of heroin from a car (AS-24A-1861) at Moopala and arrested two persons — Sabul Uddin and Aftab Uddin.
In another raid conducted on Wednesday morning, the team recovered 4.15 grams of heroin from a house in Ladrymbai Dongwah Pohktieh and arrested the owner Chales Myrchiang.
Separate cases have been registered for the recoveries and investigation is on.
East Jaintia Police has thanked members of the civil society who assisted the policemen in the recoveries.
“We would again like to appeal to everyone to come forward and assist us with real time information so that we can completely check this menace”, the East Jaintia Hills SP Vivekananda Singh said.
