Cops issue notices to pressure groups for violence during anti-CAA stir

SHILLONG: Police have issued notices to the leaders of several pressure groups in connection with the recent violence which was reported in East Khasi Hills district during the anti-CAA protest.
East Khasi Hills SP Claudia Lyngwa said notices were issued from Thursday to leaders of many pressure groups, including KSU, HYC, CoMSO, HANM and others. She said many KSU members have already appeared in police stations and so far, the persons to whom notices have been issued, are cooperating.
During the anti-CAA protest in December last year, the city witnessed serious law and order problems.
Several vehicles were torched and many shops ransacked. Many assault cases were also reported.
