SHILLONG: A five-day capacity building programme on ‘Preparation of District Irrigation Plan’ under ‘Prime Minister Krishi Sinchayee Yojana’ (PMKSY) for IAS and IFS officers of North East India is being organized  at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam from 5-9 October.
The programme is organised with an objective to enhance the technical capability of the officers to enable them to implement PMKSY in their district effectively so that the slogan Harkhet ko pani may be transferred into reality.
Speaking on the occasion Joint Secretary (AG), R.B. Sinha, in his inaugural address informed the trainees about the Government policy and schemes with special emphasis on PMKSY even as he urged the trainee officers to manage water resources using traditional knowledge and improved methods of management.
Earlier, Director, ICAR Research complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Dr. S.V. Ngachan, informed the trainees on the vast scope of  water harvesting in the region and explored the possibility of multiple use of water for increasing the production and productivity of the region.
