Regional air connectivity by July

SHILLONG: The state transport department officials will meet the Air Deccan team soon to discuss on the fights to the Northeasern states from Umroi airport as per the Central scheme.
A transport department official said that the scheme is expected to be launched by July. Earlier, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the Regional Connectivity Scheme known as UDAN for civil aviation from Shimla airport.
As per the scheme, flights from the Umroi airport will be connected to five destinations in the North East – Agartala, Aizawl, Dimapur, Imphal and Silchar.
Air Deccan will carry out the air service with incentives from both the Centre and the State Government with 90:10 funding pattern.
