KOLKATA: Trinamool Congress supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee would campaign for the coming Manipur Assembly election on January 25, party sources said on Saturday.
The sources said the Trinamool chief would leave for Imphal on Wednesday next to address an election meeting there in favour of party candidates for the January 28 poll.
It informed that Trinamool has decided to field candidates in 47 seats of the 60-member House.
Incidentally, Trinamool Congress had maintained on Friday that the party would have a seat adjustment with the Janata Dal(U) in the coming Uttar Pradesh Assembly election.
Senior Trinamool leader and Panchayat Minister Subrata Mukherjee had said the Trinamool Congress was now ‘expanding’ its base nationally, and keeping an eye on it, the party was not averse to forming an alliance with any political party other than the CPI(M) and BJP in the five coming state Assembly elections.
The observation of Mr Mukherjee in respect of the Trinamool-JD(U) ‘pact’ in the UP Assembly poll came hours after Trinamool MP Sultan Ahmed said the two parties would have seat adjustment in the UP polls. (UNI)
