Six killed in road mishap in Assam

Guwahati: In a road accident, six people, four of them from a family, were killed on the spot Wednesday in Assam when the ambulance in which they were travelling collided head-on with a truck, police said.

The accident took place near Nellie in Morigaon district in the early hours of Wednesday, police said. All six occupants of the ambulance, including the patient and the driver, died on the spot.

The patient has been identified as Jayshree Basumatary while four of her relatives accompanying her were: Pranab Basumatary, Dhaneswar Basumatary, Mahindra Basumatary, police said.

The driver of the ambulance, Imran Ali, and his helper D. Kalita were also killed in the accident. (Agencies)
