SHILLONG: Despite CM Jha, the Chancellor of CMJ University, informing the CID that he was indisposed and would not be able to appear before the investigating officer, police are trying to ascertain his whereabouts to find out whether he is stating the facts.

The CID recently summoned Jha to appear before the investigating officer on August 23, but Jha sent a letter though his lawyer that he would not be able to appear since he was unwell. Though Jha had obtained anticipatory bail from Supreme Court, it is mandatory for him to appear before the investigating officer. A senior police official said that though Jha had informed the CID that he was not well, efforts are on to trace his whereabouts as for the completion of the probe, interrogation of Jha is necessary.
