New Delhi: With Times Now giving one seat each to Congress and NDA in Meghalaya in its exit poll projection, NPP leader Purno A Sangma, who is expected to win Tura seat, on Monday met BJP’s prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi at Ahmedabad.

“Met Shri PA Sangma,” Modi tweeted after his meeting with the former Lok Sabha Speaker.

“I met the future Prime Minister today. The environment is in favour of Narendra Modi and the NDA,” Sangma, who was accompanied by his daughter Agatha Sangma, said. The meeting assumes significance as the BJP and Modi have been trying to attract maximum post-poll allies.

The Times Now exit poll predicted that while Congress was going to retain Shillong seat, veteran Purno will make a comeback to national politics from Tura. But Congress leaders are still insisting that the party would win both the seats.

When contacted the sitting MP from Shillong Vincent H Pala too exuded confidence and said that his party would retain the seat. “But because of several other factors the margin might come down,” he said.
