SHILLONG: The Megha-laya High Court has directed the State Government to file a counter affidavit within three weeks’ time into the recent incident in which a teacher of Achik Baptist Dalgapa Krima’s Secondary School Jengbha Marak was allegedly assaulted by police at Rongkugre village under Shallang Police Station on June 12.

Responding to a writ filed by his client Jengbha Marak the High Court issued this directive, said advocate PT Sangma here on Monday.

Marak filed a writ petition before the High Court sekking a direction from the court to the officer in-charge of Shallang police Station to register an FIR and book the culprits who assaulted him and a TV Mechanic identified as Sanjeev Bengalee.

It is alleged that Shallang police led by one Vishnu Adhikari threatened the duo at gunpoint without any reason.
