Cycle marathon from Tura to Ampati for green Garo hills

TURA: The district administration of West Garo Hills and South West Garo Hills is gearing up for a 47 kilometre cycle marathon from Tura to Ampati to propagate the message of green concept.
The rally, which is being held in partnership with William Initiative, a Tura based NGO, will be held on January 20. The event is sponsored by Chief Minister’s Youth Development Scheme and Chief Minister’s Youth for Green.
A total of 300 plus cyclists are likely to participate in the tour. The participants will be given transport service for carrying their cycle after completion of the tour.
On the spot registration will be held on January 19 at New Tura playground.
Bakshi also mooted that the cycle tour would encourage people to use the medium for short distance travel. The winner of the tour will be given 50,000 in cash, the second and third will get 30,000 and 10,000 respectively.
