SHILLONG: The state election department on Tuesday sent the formal intimation to the Election Commission of India regarding the demise of PA Sangma, who represented Tura in Lok Sabha. According to official sources, it is mandatory to officially inform the Election Commission regarding the death of any sitting member of any House. The official added that the EC will subsequently notify the vacant seat to hold elections within six months.
