SHILLONG: Young Indians Meghalaya Chapter; a non-profit initiative of Confederation of Indian Industry contributing towards India’s development organised a Cleanliness Awareness Drive in Police Bazaar recently from 6 am  to 9 am.
This event was  part of the Young Indian’s pillar of Nation Building realising and strengthening “Swachh Bharat” initiative of the country in the State of Meghalaya, witnessing a total number of 214 participants, represented by the NSS members of Government Girls H.S. School Jail Road, Shillong College, Seng Khasi College, St. Mary’s College, St. Edmunds College, Umshyrpi College, BBS College, Women’s College and the staff of Hotel Centre Point – the lone business establishment from the vicinity who participated.
This Cleanliness Awareness Drive was also supported by India@75 Foundation; yet another path breaking initiative of Confederation of Indian Industry, envisioning India’s development by 75th year of India’s Independence. This support was to promote Volunteerism through “Swachh Bharat” Cleaning Drive Activity in the North Eastern states. One of the objectives behind organising Awareness Drive in Police Bazaar was because of its densely populated central market location exhibiting huge amount of solid waste lying in and around the area that has been disposed of during business hours.
