SHILLONG: The Films & Television Producers Guild of Meghalaya (FTPGM) was constituted on Tuesday with Pradip Kurbah as its chairman. The producers’ body will serve as a trade union to protect, promote, encourage and develop film members and mould budding filmmakers.
On the occasion, the producer of Ka Mon Bajwat and award winning films-Ri and Onaatah, Kurbah spoke about the filmmakers’ struggle with censor board. “Most people producing films are not aware of the procedures,” he said.
Observing that filmmakers need to spread their wings to explore aspects of the industry outside the region, he said, “Censor certificate is important as it is time we think of going beyond Meghalaya. With the formation of the association, the directors and producers will be guided as far as obtaining a censor certificate is concerned.” The FTPGM will take up measures in censoring the films in India, to register banners, titles, stories, etc.
