NONGPOH: Concerned over the inordinate delay of the Greater Umsning Water Supply Scheme, the UDP led by its Umsning youth wing president Anthony Sumer and its members on Thursday met the Executive Engineer, PHE Umsning Division, S. Lyngdoh at his office chamber seeking information on pace of progress of the project.
The centrally sponsored project was sanctioned in 2011 at an estimated amount of Rs 11.28 crore.
Talking to reporters after the meeting Sumer informed that the party has received several complaints of shortage of water supply at Umsning area.  “The completion of this project would have helped ease the water crisis,” he said adding that as per the EE PHE, the delay was caused due to shifting of the previous alignment of pipelines which has been fixed .The leaders said the EE PHE expressed hope that the project will be completed within June.
