Child abandoned

SHILLONG: The District Child Protection Officer, Ri Bhoi has informed that a 21-day-old baby boy was abandoned by his mother in the house of one Ranjit Pandit, resident of 13th mile, Tamulkuchi (Byrnihat), Ri Bhoi.
The couple has handed over the baby, who is now 9 months old to the Child Welfare Committee, Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh and he is under the care and protection of “Lawei Baphyrnai’, a specialized adoption agency in Laitumkhrah.
Any person having information regarding the baby may contact the District Child Protection Officer, Ri Bhoi at 03638232087, or ‘Lawei Baphyrnai’ at 9612168593 within 60 days, failing which the child will be declared legally free for adoption.
