SHILLONG: The Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) said on Wednesday it is “ready to work with regional parties” but it has not received any official letter from the UDP-HSPDP combine inviting the party to join the alliance.
“If an official communication is received from them, we will sit and decide. For now, it is only an appeal from their end,” KHNAM president Pyndapbor Saiborne said. The UDP-HSPDP said on Tuesday that it would try to rope in KHNAM to strengthen the regional force.
KHNAM working president Adelbert Nongrum said the party will weigh the pros and cons of the appeal made by the UDP-HSPDP alliance.
“Glad that we have been offered to unite but we will have to weigh the pros and cons and the party will decide at the right time,” he said.
Stating that he had foreseen this political situation long time back, he said the party had already placed an offer for unity of all regional parties.
“KHNAM is ready to work together with other regional parties and even individuals whose motive is to sincerely serve our motherland and have relevant issues,” he said.
Asserting that KHNAM is not a “juvenile but a matured party”, Nongrum said it will not allow others to use the party for selfish motive.
