SHILLONG: Concerned over sudden discontinuation of service by Reliance Communications Ltd, the city based journalists on Monday petitioned the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum seeking compensation.
‘The mobile company has not informed about its decision to stop providing services to its customers both using pre-paid and post-paid SIM cards,’ the petitioners said.
According to the petition, as journalists they were all the more affected due to the nature of the work which heavily depends on mobile and internet connectivity.
“We could not receive important calls be it from the public who wanted to provide news-related information, or those wishing to give advertisement to newspapers. This has badly affected not only our readers but advertisers and the whole media houses,” the petition said
