Border talks unlikely before polls

SHILLONG: The border talks with the Assam government is unlikely before the upcoming polls as the neighbouring state has not responded to the date suggested by the Meghalaya government.
The state government had written to Assam requesting it to fix any date from November 13 for holding the chief secretary level talks to discuss the pending border issues, but in vain.
Earlier, the state government had also proposed any day between September 19 and 22 for talks which had also not evoked any positive response from Assam.
