State pays tribute to fallen soldiers

SHILLONG Police Commemoration Day was organised in the premises of the IGP, Office NES, CRPF, Shillong and the SP’s office complex in Resubelpara, North Garo Hills on Sunday.
In a statement issued here, the CRPF stated that 10 CRPF died against Chinese Aggression on October 21, 1959 at Hotspring, Ladakh (Jammu and Kashmir).
“It is a matter of pride to the Force that sacrifices of these valiant CRPF men have been adopted by all the Police Forces of the entire Country as Police Commemoration Day,” the statement mentioned.
Prakash D, IPS, Inspector General, North Eastern Sector, CRPF, Shillong, Meghalaya paid homage to all police personnel who died fighting from September 1 2017 to August 31, 2018.
Sham Chand, DIG (Adm), H. S. Ghuman, Commandant 67 Bn, all other officers and men of North Eastern Sector as well as 67 Bn were also present on this occasion and paid their tribute to the brave Martyrs. Prakash D read out the names of 419 martyrs and a two minute silence was also observed.
The Central Reserve Police Force said 27 brave men from the force died in the line of duty during September 1, 2017 to August 31, 2018.
Meanwhile, the day was observed in Resubelpara SP office complex. Dr Sacheng R Marak MPS SP North Garo Hills led the observation day along with family members of the martyrs belonging to North Garo Hills and others.
