SHILLONG: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Monday launched the Chief Minister’s WhatsApp-based redressal mechanism on the occasion of the 47th Statehood Day.
Under it, the common people of the state would be able to have access to his office to express their grievances on any matter.
Speaking to media persons after launching the platform (94363-94363) Conrad said that it is for people to express their concern and grievances directly to the Chief Minister’s office.
Asserting that it is not a complete problem-solving system but an access for the people to the CM’s office, the chief minister added that there are lots of problems at the grassroots which are easy to resolve but can’t be done simply because people cannot reach the right and competent authorities.
The chief minister’s office will have a complete database and a back office for the functioning of the system and the grievances will be shared with line departments for necessary action.
The chief minister maintained that the system will also allow the government to analyse the trends of the problems and grievances department and area-wise besides highlighting the issues which plague any department or sector.
Citing an example, the chief minister said that the government has been receiving complaints about electricity problem in East Khasi Hills district while it was not true of other districts. The government can analyse the problem and accordingly call the Power department to resolve the issues.
The chief minister also admitted that there will be several challenges as well while operating the system since there will be many unnecessary and fake complaints as well.
