NE Graduate Congress to feature galaxy of stars

GUWAHATI: North East Graduate Congress (NEGC), organised by ERD Foundation Guwahati will commence in the University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya (USTM) for the sixth time from February 15-17 with an expected participation of more than 10,000 students from about 300 colleges spread across the North East.
The mega event will be inaugurated by Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Prof. D P Agarwal, former Chairman, UPSC, Dr Balendra Kumar Das, Director, Administration, USTM announced on Friday.
The three-day-long event will be graced by a galaxy of prominent personalities ranging from youth icons, intellectuals, academia, cultural and sports icons, politicians, motivational speakers and many more.
NEGC is a unique confluence of students’ community of undergraduate level held every year under the aegis of USTM.
The main thrust of NEGC is to facilitate the aspiring and budding youth to have direct interactive sessions with renowned academicians, educationists, industrialists and entrepreneurs of national and international repute in a single platform enabling them to shape and mould their career to befit the emerging needs of modern technologies and move towards new horizons for a self-reliant and developed India.
Among the various sessions of 6th NEGC, the session on Competitive Examinations will be addressed by Prof. D P Agarwal while the Panel Discussion on “Youth, Politics and Corruption” would be addressed by Ruchi Gupta, AICC joint secretary and in charge of NSUI; Vijaya Rahatkar, national president of BJP Mahila Morcha and other eminent leaders and analysts from the region.
On the other hand there will be a separate session to be addressed by cricketer Hardik Patel, youth leader Kanhaiya Kumar and Jignesh Mevani, a young politician from Gujarat.
The cultural evening will be opened by popular Bollywood playback singer Armaan Malik and internationally famed actor Adil Hussain, while the sports events would be inaugurated by Dilip Tirkey, former captain of Indian national hockey team and Arjuna awardee Monalisa Baruah Mehta from Assam. Reputed motivational trainer Thomas John Rose is going to address the session on personality development and soft skills.
Students pursuing graduation level courses can participate in NEGC. All participants attending the Congress are required to fill a registration form for participation.
Attractive awards including two wheelers, laptops, tablets, mobile phones and cash prizes will be given to the winners of different competitions. All the students will be awarded Certificate of Participation.
Various sports and cultural competitions along with Quiz, Debate, Photography, Painting competitions will be organised during the mega event.
The sports competitions include cricket, football, volleyball, badminton, kabaddi and power lifting.
