Police seizes 1.14 kg brown sugar in Assam

Dibrugarh: Brown sugar worth over Rs one crore in the international market was seized from a house in Dibrugarh town of Assam on Sunday, a police officer said.
Brown sugar weighing 1.14 kg, Rs 19.55 lakh in cash and two mobile phones were seized during a search operation, carried out by the police, in the house of one Raja Ali at Kalibari area here, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Law & order) Nitumani Das said.
Ali escaped by jumping from the first floor of the building and a woman has been apprehended, the DSP said.
A search operation has been launched to nab Ali at the earliest, the police officer said. (PTI)
