Agartala: Just a month after the recovery of the half-burnt body of a 22-year-old female private tutor in Rangacherra village of Mohanpur in West Tripura, charred body of a minor girl has been recovered from Durgabari area of Mohanpur on Friday morning. The incident comes at a time when police surveillance has been intensified even in the remotest villages of the state to ensure lockdown to prevent the spread COVID-19. Police, however, are clueless about the murder and claimed it might be suicide. According to the family of the deceased, the girl was a student of Class VII and apparently had no reason to commit suicide. The girl used to go for morning walk with her father, but on Friday morning, the father found her missing from the house. He informed the other family members about her absence, after which the search began. “We found her charred body in a nearby jungle and an empty drum of kerosene was lying in the spot. The drum belonged to the family and was full of kerosene oil. Surprisingly, none of the family members or the neghibours smelled the burning of kerosene oil or heard the victim’s cries,” said police. The investigation is under way. (UNI)
