SHILLONG: One person hanged himself after assaulting his wife at Pynursla on Monday night.
Sources said that one Parmeshor Roy (54) had committed suicide after assaulting his wife identified as Iarlin Khongtani following a heated argument.
According to sources, Roy, after assaulting his wife, had gone to his old house at Neng Gate near the police station at Pynursla to meet his children.
The wife, after regaining consciousness, managed to come out from the backdoor, crawling to one of the neighbour houses and sought for help.
“After seeing her injuries, the neighbours immediately took her to the community health centre in Pynursla for treatment,” sources said.
Discovering that his wife had survived, sources said the husband left for his new residence and hanged himself from a tree outside his new house.
“The people of the locality, along with the police, had tried to trace the husband. But it was only on Tuesday morning that they found that he (husband) has committed by hanging himself,” sources said.
According to sources, the wife was first shifted to Shillong Civil Hospital and then to NEIGRIHMS where she is currently admitted in the ICU.
When contacted, EKH SP, CA Lyngwa, that the police had registered a case against the husband.
