Man moves Conrad over assault
SHILLONG: A resident of Mawlai Umjapung has written to the Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, alleging that he was assaulted at Garoline, Laitumkhrah on August 25 evening. In the letter, he stated that he was assaulted while coming from Amazon Office, Lower Nongrim Hills, and proceeding towards Laitumkhrah. He added that albeit an FIR was lodged in the Laitumkhrah Police Station on the same day, no appropriate action was taken. In this connection, he has requested the chief minister to issue necessary instructions to the concerned authority so that stringent action can be taken and also that similar incident do not take place later.
USTM’s new prog launch today
SHILLONG: The University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya, in collaboration association with Dr. B. Barooah Cancer Institute, has decided to launch a new master’s degree programme for students on Wednesday. According to a statement, the objective of the master’s degree programme, viz. Masters in Hospital Administration (MHA), is to cater to the needs of the present-day health sector, where skilled and trained administrators as well as managers are required in the hospitals and other health care institutes for their smooth functioning.
City house now a containment zone
SHILLONG: The East Khasi Hills District Administration, following the detection of COVID-19 cases/high-risk contacts, has declared the house of Tri Shabong, Lawsohtun Block-2 (Lumpdeng), as a containment area. In another order, the East Khasi Hills District Administration has lifted the containment zone tag from Horju Roy Compound at Jeep Stand and Rana Compound at Lower Mawprem. However, the Md. Salim Compound at Lower Mawprem is still retained as a containment area.
Ri Bhoi extends night curfew
NONGPOH: The Ri Bhoi District Administration on Tuesday extended the night curfew in the district till September 15.The curfew in the district will be promulgated between 9 pm to 5 am, a statement on Tuesday said. The restrictions and relaxations with regard to movement during the curfew hours remain the same as per earlier orders. “Curfew passes for timings falling between 9 pm to 5 am can be obtained via online application from www.ribhoi.gov.in,” the statement said.
