SHILLONG, Oct 5: NEHU’s failure to issue final semester marksheets to students who graduated this year has cost many students dearly as they were denied admission into universities for post-graduate courses.
A number of parents and students themselves called up The Shillong Times office on Tuesday to register their disillusionment over the “shoddy” functioning of this central university.
They wondered why marksheets could not be released for so long when the examination was conducted on August 4 last and results were announced on September 14. They bitterly complained that because they were unable to produce the marksheets, many universities cancelled their admission while conducting the counselling session.
The common refrain of all the sufferers was that “if other universities are able to release markheets on time, why can’t NEHU?” and “who would be responsible for this lapse?” Said another “We are thinking of suing NEHU”.
NEHU’s response to these complaints could not be obtained immediately.
