TURA, Jan 21: Acting swiftly on the complaint lodged by the victim Deepak Gupta, West Garo Hills (WGH) police on Friday arrested both accused in the recent wine store assault case near Nakham Bazaar.
Confirming the arrests, WGH Superintendent of Police, Vivekanand Singh, said that both the miscreants were picked up by the police on the morning of January 21.
As per reports, at about 4:30 pm on January 18, two miscreants showed up at the wine store, where Gupta worked as manager, and forcibly took away a bottle of liquor without paying for it. Later, on the same night, they showed up once again, demanding more liquor for free.
When Gupta refused to give in to their demands, the two miscreants assaulted him severely, leaving him with a bloodied nose. The manager, however, fled the shop to save himself from the assault while the two miscreants, apparently from the Shanti Nagar area of the town, also fled on their motorcycle (AS01 1896).
