SHILLONG, June 1: A pick-up truck driver, Johnyrias Marboh of Upper Nongrah, and his handyman, Augustin Marboh of Nongrah Umjapung, were arrested on Wednesday after they reportedly violated traffic rules and when confronted by a traffic police personnel, made an attempt to flee and in the process almost run over the cop. A video of the incident had earlier begun circulating on social media.
In a statement, the Superintendent of Police (City), Vivek Syiem, said the truck (ML05-T-8200) violated the traffic regulation at Nongthymmai and caused obstruction. When the cop intervened, the driver without any disregard for the former tried to flee and run over him while the handyman got down and manhandled him, the SP (City) said.
