SHILLONG, Sep 14: RTI activist Disparsing Rani on Wednesday claimed that the NPP’s under-construction office at Bivar Road was illegal since no permission record was available.
Talking to reporters, Rani claimed that there are no records or documents to show that the NPP has obtained permission to construct its party’s office.
Informing that document like the plot of land, building land and seismic resistance certificate were provided to the DC’s office, Ran said when he sought the documents through an RTI application, he was not provided with the permission for chopping of trees and the actual permission for construction.
According to him, the NPP was allotted 10,000 square feet of revenue land opposite the BSNL quarters at Bivar Road for setting up of the party office.
The RTI activist also informed that other political parties who were provided with revenue land for construction of party offices include HSPDP (3,000 sq ft near Shillong College), UDP (6,000 sq feet near Shillong College), BJP (3,000 sq ft at Bivar Road) and Congress (10,000 sq feet at Bishop Cotton Road).
