TURA, Sep 14: The Tura City District Committee of the BJP has sought the immediate intervention of the party’s central leadership for the release party’s state vice president Bernard Marak.
In its letter to the party’s National General Secretary (Organisation) BL Santosh, the committee appealed to the central leadership for an independent inquiry into the charges against the Bernard.
Backing the Tura MDC’s candidature for South Tura Constituency in the upcoming Assembly elections, the committee asked the central leadership to ensure that Bernard gets bail.
Asking the central leadership to resolve the infighting within the state BJP before the Assembly elections, the committee said, “The indifferences and internal conflict among the state leaders must be stopped at the earliest, as this kind of conflict gives a bad impression and insecurity to the party karyakartas working at the grassroots level. It is high time for every party leader and karyakarta to stay united before the upcoming elections.”
The committee also backed Ernest Mawrie as the state BJP president to ensure smooth management of the party ahead of the elections.
