SHILLONG, April 18: Education Minister Rakkam A. Sangma on Tuesday said that the state government will review the implementation of the State Education Policy in the state.
“We are in the process of implementing it. On top of that, we also have the National Education Policy (NEP),” he said.
“There are some sectors beyond the capacity of the state owing to financial constraints which we may not be able to implement but we are working on providing quality education to our students to prepare them for a better future,” Sangma said.
Asked whether the state government will implement the state policy or the NEP, the minister said: “We can say both, not the whole of NEP as it is very vast. The state has designed the policy in such a way that it suits our state education environment.”
“We are working on this (blend of the two policies) and very soon we will review it,” he added.
“In order to instil confidence in and raise the standard of the students of our state, we are examining the adoption of the CBSE curriculum,” Sangma said.
